All About Innovative Vision Products

How We Got Started

The founder of Innovative Vision Products, Sloan Morris, cares a lot about the visually challenged. He was himself diagnosed with Stargardt’s disease (also known as juvenile macular degeneration) at age 12. He then spent 15 years in the paper and packaging industry, then started Innovative Vision Products in 2004. He now has a BS from Kansas University and an MBA from Lake Forest School of Management.

Having lived with visual impairment from a young age and dealing with many of life’s challenges, he grew a special empathy for the low vision community. Knowing what you face and what works and doesn’t work, he wants to give you the benefit of his experience and studies in the field.

While we can’t help every client, we do find that most clients benefit considerably from their time with us. While it can be daunting to look at all of this technology and try to learn how it can fit into your daily life, teaching people all about this is what we do and we love to do it. We can generally make it all easy to understand for the client and the caregivers in a few hours at most. Eventually, it will be like brushing your teeth: the habits will be so ingrained that you’ll wonder why you ever thought much about it all!

Our Mission

We work to restore the dignity of the visually impaired in Illinois, so that they can become as self-sufficient as possible. Visual impairment is something that can happen at any time to you or someone you love – whether that is a parent, husband, wife, sister, brother, or even child. Because this could happen to any one of us, our mission is to make the challenges associated with impaired vision much easier to handle as well as improve the quality of life for the impaired person and for those who care for them.

While it is still not possible to entirely repair damaged sight to full normalcy, we have seen in many cases that a lot of the lost sight can be improved. Often, these improvements will please and even amaze the recipients, who mostly had abandoned their hopes of ever reading again.
